Infrared Sauna: Start slowly and carefully. Replenish electrolytes upon exiting sauna. Lyme patients need to be particularly careful about supporting their potassium levels.
Exercise: Start slowly and carefully. Weight lifting, jogging, hot yoga, etc.. Slow, heavy resistance training (see “3 by 5 rule”) will stimulate the immune and endocrine system. The 3 by 5 rule is 3 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 exercises, 3 to 5 days per week, with several minutes of rest between each set. Of course one must work up to this SLOWLY.
Detoxification supplements: Glutathione, berberine and decaffeinated green tea extract are examples of supplements that are taken orally and can be helpful in opening the detoxification pathways. Coffee enemas, fulvic soaks, castor oil packs and ionic foot bath are examples of other alternative modalities to encourage detoxification. It is always best to work with a practitioner to determine which combination of compounds and modalities are most appropriate for you based on your medical history, symptoms and overall presentation. Detoxing too much without the proper support can be very unpleasant and in some extreme cases be dangerous or life threatening.
Binders: carbon and fulvic/humic acid compounds. Takesumi Supreme is a very gentle bamboo charcoal from Japan Jacob recommends. A preferred company for some of these products is Cell Core, they make a universal “bio-toxin binder”. Medical supervision and vigilance is necessary when using these compounds as they can bind to other medications and supplements as well as deplete the body with improper use.
Ensure bowels are moving: Similarly to addressing sleep, ideally one can approach this with herbs and supplements but ultimately make sure elimination is occurring no matter what it takes. It is vital to eliminate bio-toxins and antigens that have been released (via detoxification and pathogen die off) and then bound in the gut (via binders).
Breathing exercises: Somatic Breath Work and Whim Hoff Method are Jacob’s preferred method. There are many great options!
Intermittent or extended fasting: Start slowly and carefully with this.
